Dear Friend in Scouting,

Boy Scout Troop 147 of South Philadelphia
is celebrating its 103rd anniversary in 2018 and we are graciously asking for your financial support to celebrate this scouting milestone in our community. Your tax-deductible donation will be used to fund our troop’s 2018 summer camping trip and scout camp.

Troop 147 can now securely accept donations via Credit Card through PayPal at the link below. If you would like to designate your PayPal Donation for Camp Wilderness, 2018 Summer Camp,  or the General Troop Fund, please email after you have made your donation.

Scouting offers our youth an opportunity to get outdoors and away from the city. Boy Scout Troop 147 of South Philadelphia, chartered in 1915 to Trinity Lutheran Church at 18th and Wolf Streets, continues to give our South Philadelphia youth this unique opportunity. As the oldest chartered Troop in South Philadelphia and only one of the two troops remaining in our area, we are proud of this service to our youth!

Troop 147 is active in our South Philadelphia community. Our scouts assisted renovating the World War II Memorial at 18th at Passyunk.  Please visit this refurbished historic memorial honoring our South Philadelphia veterans. Our Troop has collected over 3500 cans of food for The ABC Scouting for Food Drive each year over the last ten years because of the generosity of our South Philadelphia community. Troop 147 spends many weekends down the “Lakes” bagging trash, while on other weekends we are assisting local community groups with neighborhood clean-ups and tree plantings. Through the Aid to Friends program, which assists our elderly South Philadelphia shut-ins, our troop cooks meals and delivers them to Epiphany Church for distribution.  And, of course, you must have seen our Troop 147 scouts proudly marching in the annual Columbus Day Parade or helping to set-up and clean-up tables and chairs at the annual Vendemia Festival. Yes, we are an active Troop in our South Philadelphia community serving to make our community a better place to live!

As Troop 147 begins to plan the events of our 103rd year in May of 2018, we are kindly asking you for a tax-deductible donation to support our 103rd anniversary celebration and scouting in South Philadelphia.

Thank you for your generosity to keep the scouting spirit alive for our South Philadelphia youth and Troop 147 now and in the future!

Christopher Menna,
Troop 147 Scout Master
